kells’ hormone-balancing blueberry smoothie (i swear by this)

kells’ hormone-balancing blueberry smoothie (i swear by this)

Okay, let’s just get real: smoothies have this reputation of being either kale-tasting punishment or Instagram-perfect, but totally bland. I’ve been there. And yes, I love my smoothies cold, vibrant, and unapologetically flavourful. I'm so lame, I literally drink the same smoothie every day (boo me).

Ingredients (But Chill, I Don’t Measure Strictly):

Here’s my go-to:

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries (I always eyeball it because YOLO)
  • A handful of spinach
  • 2 scoops collagen powder
  • 1 chopped date
  • Almond milk (just enough to loosen things up)
  • Lots of ice (I like my drinks very cold, always)

Seriously, this is not a chemistry experiment. I want you to enjoy it, not stress over grams or ounces. The “eyeball it” philosophy is real, and honestly? That’s part of why I love smoothies, they feel like permission to get a little creative.

Why This Smoothie Works for Hormone Health

  1. Blueberries: Tiny but Mighty
Blueberries are antioxidant superheroes. They help reduce inflammation in the body, support brain health, and can even assist with balancing hormones. Bonus: they’re naturally sweet, so no added sugar required.
  2. Spinach: The Green Powerhouse
Spinach isn’t just for Popeye. It’s packed with magnesium, which helps regulate cortisol (aka the stress hormone) and keeps your energy levels steadier throughout the day.
  3. Collagen Powder: Glow From the Inside Out
Collagen supports your hair, nails, skin, and even your joints. Since hormonal changes can sometimes affect skin elasticity and hair quality, adding collagen feels like a tiny, indulgent act of self-care that actually does something.
  4. Dates: Sweetness That Doesn’t Crash
One chopped date adds a natural hit of sweetness, plus potassium and fiber. It keeps the smoothie satisfying without spiking your blood sugar like refined sugar would.
  5. Coconut Water: Hydration Hero
Coconut water adds natural electrolytes, which helps with hydration, digestion, and just that “fresh and awake” vibe you want mid-morning.
  6. Ice: The Cold Factor
This is my signature touch. I like my smoothies icy. There’s something about that crisp coldness that wakes you up and makes sipping a small moment of joy.

I usually make this smoothie first thing in the morning or as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. It’s filling enough to carry me until lunch without feeling heavy. I sip slowly while checking emails or scrolling through Pinterest (or, let’s be honest, saving content for later).

Sometimes, I even toss it into a cute jar, grab a straw, and feel like I’m doing a little wellness ritual, because you don’t need fancy rituals to feel grounded, but they sure make it fun.

I’ve tried a lot of “hormone-balancing” smoothies. Most of them taste like chalk or require ingredients I can’t find without a special trip to a boutique health store. This one? It’s accessible, simple, and actually enjoyable.

More than that, it’s a reminder: you can support your body without doing extreme diets, crazy cleanses, or measuring your kale to the gram. Small, consistent choices, like blending a nutrient-packed smoothie, add up.

This smoothie is my little daily ritual. It’s a way to show my body love, honour my energy, and yes, feel like I’m glowing a little from the inside out.
