my current comfort rituals

my current comfort rituals

I think life feels better when you let yourself become slightly obsessed with small things.

Not life-changing things.

Just oddly specific rituals, routines, shows, drinks, and tiny habits that make your days feel a little warmer, calmer, or more fun.

These are mine lately.

1. reality TV (specifically: absolute chaos)

I know reality TV isn’t exactly “high consciousness content.”

And yet… here we are.

Currently: obsessed with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The drama. The wealth. The completely unnecessary arguments. The emotional support glam squads.

Something about watching other people’s beautifully chaotic lives while sitting under a blanket with tea feels deeply therapeutic.

No notes.

2. solo coffee runs in the morning

This has become one of my favourite rituals.

There’s something weirdly grounding about leaving the house early, grabbing a coffee alone, and having a quiet little moment before the day fully starts asking things from you.

No rushing.

No multitasking.

Just coffee, fresh air, maybe a mild existential thought, maybe pretending you’re in an indie film for fifteen minutes.

Small habit.

Elite mood boost.

3. reading 10 pages before bed

Not fifty pages.

Not a perfect evening routine.

Just ten.

Because ten feels realistic.

And honestly? It changes the feeling of my evenings.

Reading before bed makes my brain feel softer somehow.

Less doom-scroll energy.

More “my nervous system might actually survive modern life” energy.

Bonus points if the book expands your mind a little and makes you question your entire existence in a productive way.

4. matcha on the couch before bed

I understand this sounds slightly niche.

But hear me out.

A warm cup of matcha, cozy clothes, low lighting, couch time.

There’s something about it that feels comforting and intentional.

Like I’m gently telling my body:

"okay… we’re slowing down now."

Which, considering how loud life can feel lately, is actually a pretty underrated ritual.

5. lighting a candle and fully committing to couch coziness

This one is aggressively simple.

Candle lit.

Blanket acquired.

Soft lighting.

Phone slightly ignored.

Maximum coziness.

I think we underestimate how much atmosphere changes our mood.

Lighting a candle doesn’t solve your problems.

But it does make folding laundry, reading, working, or watching TV feel 37% more romantic.

And honestly?

I’ll take it.

Not everything that improves your life has to be deep, optimised, or incredibly productive.

Sometimes it’s reality TV, solo coffees, ten pages of a book, warm drinks, and a candle making your apartment feel emotionally supportive.

Tiny obsessions.

But good ones.
