the hidden skin benefits of olives

the hidden skin benefits of olives

If you told me a few years ago that olives would become part of my “skincare routine,” I would’ve laughed. Like… olives? The snack everyone literally hates. I mean, I have so many friends who get grossed out that I could eat olives straight out the jar, in a martini (you get the vibes lol).

But recently I’ve been paying more attention to the connection between what I eat and how my skin looks and feels, and olives kept coming up more than I expected.

Not in a dramatic, overnight “this changed everything” way, but in a subtle, supportive, this is actually doing something kind of way.

And I kind of love that.

Olives are rich in healthy fats, especially monounsaturated fats. And before you glaze over, this actually matters a lot for your skin.

Your skin has a barrier, basically a protective layer that keeps moisture in and environmental stress out. When that barrier is strong, your skin tends to look smoother, more hydrated, and more balanced.

Healthy fats help support that barrier.

So instead of your skin feeling dry, tight, or reactive, it has what it needs to stay more stable. It’s not a quick fix, but over time, this kind of internal support shows up externally.

And honestly, that’s the kind of “glow” that actually lasts.

Your skin is constantly dealing with things like sun exposure, pollution, and just… life. All of that creates what’s called oxidative stress, which can affect how your skin ages and looks over time.

Olives contain antioxidants that help combat that stress.

Think of it less like “anti-aging magic” and more like support, helping your skin deal with the day-to-day damage it naturally goes through.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about resilience.

And I’ve started to think about food like this more, not in a restrictive way, but in a supportive one. What can I add in that helps my body (and skin) function a little better?

Olives just happen to be one of those small, easy additions.

The thing about skin is that it’s rarely one single thing that makes the difference.

It’s a combination of habits, hydration, sleep, nutrition, stress, skincare, movement, all working together.

Olives aren’t going to transform your skin overnight. But they’re part of that bigger picture of nourishing your body in a way that supports how you feel and how you show up.

And sometimes that’s enough.

There’s something kind of nice about simple, everyday foods quietly doing their job in the background without you needing to overthink it.

I think we get caught up in chasing the next product, the next trend, the next “fix” for our skin.

But sometimes the most helpful things are the ones that don’t feel like effort at all.

Adding olives to your meals. Drinking enough water. Eating foods that support your body instead of stressing it.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being a little more intentional.

And if that includes adding olives to your plate? Even better.
