why matcha is actually good for you (and not just a trend)

why matcha is actually good for you (and not just a trend)

I used to think matcha was just one of those things.

You know, the kind that looks aesthetic, shows up in every “morning routine” video, and somehow costs double the price for half the drink.

It felt like a trend.
A green, slightly suspicious trend.

Until I actually started drinking it.

And now?
I get it.

Yes, matcha is pretty.
Yes, it comes in cute cups.
Yes, it feels very that girl.

But the real reason people stick with it isn’t the look, it’s how it makes you feel.

Calmer.
Clearer.
More steady.

Not wired. Not jittery. Not crashing by 2pm.

Just… good.

The biggest thing I noticed when I switched from coffee to matcha?

The energy.

With coffee, it was always:

  • spike → anxiety → crash

With matcha, it’s more like:

  • steady → focused → calm

That’s because matcha contains L-theanine, which slows the release of caffeine and helps you stay alert without the edge.

So instead of feeling overstimulated, you feel… balanced.

And if you’ve ever felt anxious after coffee, you’ll understand how big of a shift that is.

When you’re already a little burnt out or overwhelmed, the last thing your body needs is more stress.

And caffeine (especially in high amounts) can quietly add to that.

Matcha feels different.

It gives you energy, but in a way that feels supportive, not depleting.

Less pressure.
More presence.

This is the part I didn’t expect to love as much as I do.

Making matcha forces you to slow down.

You have to whisk it.
Pour it.
Actually be there for a minute.

It turns your morning into a ritual instead of something rushed.

And that small shift?
It changes the whole tone of your day.

I didn’t switch to matcha because it was trending.

I switched because I was tired of:

  • feeling jittery
  • relying on multiple coffees a day
  • crashing halfway through the afternoon

I wanted something that felt better.

And over time, matcha became part of my routine in a way that actually supports me.

It’s not about being perfect.
It’s not about cutting coffee forever.

It’s just about choosing something that helps me feel: calmer, clearer, more like myself.

If You’re Trying to Reset Your Energy:

If you’ve been feeling a bit off lately, low energy, overstimulated, burnt out, this is exactly the kind of small shift that can help.

It’s not dramatic.
It’s not life-changing overnight.

But it’s a step.

And sometimes that’s all you need.

You don’t need a full aesthetic routine.
You don’t need the perfect setup.

You just need one small shift that makes you feel better.

Matcha just happens to be one of those for me.

I'm totally lying, it's basically my personality at this point.
